Estate of Panic!

Estate of Panic is one of my new favorite shows! It premiered Wednesday on the SciFi channel and it's bananas (and hilarious).

The premise is this: A group of 7 contests has to endure TERRIBLE, DISGUSTING, and sometimes PAINFUL obstacles to find hidden money in a creepy mansion. It's worse than it sounds. It's like Fear Factor mixed with the movie Saw.

There's three rounds in each episode. During each round the contestants collect as much money as they can - if they're last back to the home base with the money, they're out (so it's greed vs. speed). Also, if they get back to home base and have collected the least amount of money, they're out - so there are 2 contestants eliminated after each round, leaving one winner. In the first episode the rounds were as follows:

  • Round 1 - Basement filled with money with busting pipes that floods endlessly + snakes.
  • Round 2 - A garden filled with money - and electrical wires that shocked the contestants. The voltage increased in intensity as the round progressed.

  • Round 3 - A room filled with money that starts to collapse - the walls close in and the ceiling caves in.
  • Final Challenge (Vault) - The winner has the opportunity to take his money and run - which at the time was over $20,00 or take a final challenge and add EXPONENTIALLY to his cash by fishing through a room with over 2000 drawers while being cuffed and chained to the floor. The catch was that he would have to free himself from the chains by using tools found in the drawers and leave with the money before the door locked him in (SAW, MUCH?) or press the panic button, which would cause him to forfeit half his winning plus whatever he found in the vault.... MESSED UP! (oh yea... none of the tools were keys ... there was a wrench, a SAW, snakes, spiders, and random knick knacks....)

The show is REALLY cuh-razy! and the host is as creepy as ever.

Basically, the show is AWESOME! I'd LOVE to be a contestant.... it seems like a lot of money. And the winner of the first episode took home over $28,000 and a helluva crazy experience.
